A FEW GOOD MEN

assssThere had been an accident, a boy was hit by a hit and run driver. He was seriously wounded and needed medical attention but the mother knowing that she wouldn’t be able to foot the hospital bill opted for a first aid treatment at a nearby pharmacy. It was at this point that a young man who couldn’t walk pass the situation showed up and emphasized the boy should get the right medical attention. He conveyed him to a nearby hospital, paid for all the expenses and made sure the boy was good to go home. ‘I have never made this man until at the accident scene’ the woman recalled while she narrated the whole ordeal to us, I was startled as I listened to her, that amidst greedy and selfish people, there are still few of them that are good.
We have so many rich men, famous men, wealthy men, successful men, great men, righteous men, holy men but there are only few good men around. I am in no way insinuating that the poor, wretched and frustrated are good men no, I am only saying that only few men will give to you or reach out to help without expecting you to return the favour, only few of them will give or do a favour without making it go viral on the media. A young lady lamented how she got stranded in one of the big cities in Nigeria, she couldn’t get to her destination because she arrived a bit late and she opted to ask for a kind Samaritan to drop her off. In her words “every man that cared to pull over, suggested a change in destination with many happy returns” she had to finally sleep over at the common room of the motor park.
This is one of the many scenarios that occurs every day around us, people are dying not because there was no way out but that there was no help, other are dropping out of school because their financial muscles can’t sustained them any longer. It is no one’s fault that these things happens to people but it is pathetic to know that there are people around them that could be of help, but it is not their business even though all that might be required is a helping hand, they don’t care to know but will rather focus on themselves when actually we are bless to be a blessing to others not just family. Nowadays only few will offer help to a lady if she is not ready to return the favour in kind, few will process your file without asking for kick back, so it is now using what you have to get what you want.
In conclusion the good Samaritan that help that boy was not a money bag as we might think, he was just an average business man, so money does not make you a good man, you are either a good man or not with or without money. However, there is how far science and technology can do to make this world a better place, thus this world will be a better place when we learn to do good to all men, so if you are among the few good ones keep it up and if you are not just pounder over it.

  1. Again, my brother you hit it right on, a real man is a man of mercy, grace and not just in words but in deeds. If I might add these Scriptures from the Epistle of James, they demonstrate greatly what you have just written;

    James
    2:15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
    16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

    3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
    14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
    15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
    16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
    17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
    18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

    God bless you greatly! I look forward to your next post!
