sureA man woke up one morning, after the construction of a ship he called ‘titanic’ with an ironic tone he said: “not even God can sink it” when asked by a reporter how safe Titanic was, the result? We all know what happened. There was nothing really wrong with building an incredible or outstanding ship but being so sure of his feat and making a statement that is so daring and antagonistic made everything wrong about it, because you don’t know and can’t tell what will happen any moment from now. I would have loved to see the look on his face, his countenance for the rest of the day when his phone rang, he answering it was told “titanic” the ship he built had sunk or probably he was in the ship when it sunk. No one knows or can predict tomorrow but some people speak as if they control, determine or holds tomorrow in their hands, just because of what they know, have or are doing, when they are not even sure of seeing tomorrow.
I have heard a lot of people make statement and I had to turn to see who actually was speaking. The truth is, I don’t have problem with who you are, what you say or why you said it, but when you speak as if you are the newly elected God, it gets me upset because the last I checked you were still human and with the fact that you are not even sure of what you will do in the next five (5) seconds yet you are sure of things beyond your imagination. In the game of life, every man goes in with the mind to win and they are so sure about it. Hence be it business, marriage or career, no man ever went out there in the field to fail, they were all prepared, courageous and determine yet too many businesses are folding up, couples divorcing and too many people are failing, but ask them they will tell you they were so sure of winning or succeeding. However, no one prays to fail, we all hope to succeed or win but if someone has to win then another must lose.
Therefore, you cannot be so sure of anything, so don’t join the multitude to make statement or comment that is not in your hands to decide. How do you know that you won’t need those people you despise? Things will go as planned? How are you so sure that your path in life will never cross with someone or that someone will never make it without you? The truth is no one knows tomorrow, therefore being so sure is not a big deal because we will actually know how sure you were at the end of the day.

  1. I tend to try to make no sentences include “never” or “always” because you have to be open to all possibilities and hopefully, allow God to make some of the major decisions!

  2. “even God can sink it”? that was an extreme statement. i consciously desist from making statements that I cannot validate. I’m persuaded to use the cliche “no one knows to tomorrow” here.
